Yesterday we picked the first fresh strawberries of the season from our little strawberry bed. They are soooooo sweet and yummy. I had forgotten just how tasty real fresh strawberries really are. Yum. They totally made my day.

Urban Homestead Happenings...
Today I collected the first egg from one of our new little hens. :) It's a tiny little egg, but it's an egg nonetheless. :D Today we also happened upon baby praying mantis nymphs emerging from their egg case, which was nestled among the potted hen and chicks on the front porch. The daisies, roses and peonies are now in full bloom and smell so sweet. I love spring.
My Mother's Day
I couldn't ask for a better Mother's Day or sweeter children. I feel so blessed to have them in my lives and to be their mother. :)
Raven woke up extra early to make a big Mother's Day brunch (with the help of Grandma). She also wrote me an essay about why I am so special to her *happy tears*, gave me a paper rose, a sweet handmade card, a painting she had made me, a beautiful vintage Mothers plaque, and even made me a dark chocolate layer cake with buttercream icing. Gwen gave me a card, a tissue paper rose, a painted a canvas for me, and wrote a song for me and my little Ella gave me a potted begonia in a hand painted clay pot she made for me at Girl Scouts. :)
